A 2-minute reset before bed

The day is over, but the updates keep coming. These two minutes give you a gentle way to put the phone down and let the evening be yours again.

First minute: give the phone a stopping point

Finish the message that needs an answer, close the feed, and silence notifications you do not need overnight. Keep essential contacts available if you need them. Put the phone somewhere you will not automatically reach for it, ideally away from the bed.

Second minute: leave tomorrow for tomorrow

If there is something you are trying to remember, write a brief note on paper. Choose one quiet next step: getting ready for bed, reading a little of a paper book, or sitting without more input. The note does not have to become a full to-do list.

Then let the screen stay off

You do not need to keep a timer running or return here to complete anything. The CDC recommends turning off electronic devices at least 30 minutes before bedtime. This short pause is a starting point for leaving the screen, not a substitute for that longer wind-down.

If a calm scene helps, use it earlier

A calm scene is a gentler end to the evening than another feed, though putting the phone away completely is better still. If you do keep a screen on, Calmscrolling™ gives you one photo or video with sound off unless you choose it. When it is time for bed, put the screen aside rather than feeling you need to keep watching.

The aim is simply to end the stream of updates and leave a little room between your day and your night.
