Why relaxing online usually fails

Most places you go for calm are still built to keep you scrolling — a feed underneath, an ad beside it, a next video already loading. That's why people ask how to stop doomscrolling and end up back in it ten minutes later.

Calmscrolling™ has no feed, no algorithm, no outside ads and no notifications. One calm scene at a time, with gentle nature sounds or peaceful music if and when you want it. It is a quieter approach to digital wellness and a gentle alternative to doomscrolling. Members call it the most calming website online. We agree.

More about Calmscrolling™

Three easy steps to help you relax

  1. 1

Silence the phone and let your eyes rest

A notification undoes a few minutes of calm instantly, so silence the phone first. Then give your eyes one peaceful image with nothing moving and nothing flashing. There are a few waiting for you below — tap one to see it full size, and tap again to come back. Stay with it a little longer than feels necessary.

  2. 2

    Make the out-breath longer

You don't need a technique to remember. Breathe in for four, out for six. A longer out-breath is the quickest honest way to tell your body it is safe.

  3. 3

    Soften three places

Jaw, shoulders, hands. Let each one drop in turn. Most tension hides in those three, and letting go is something you can do in a second, anywhere.
